A thin flexible endoscope gives a direct view of the nasal cavity, nasopharynx and vocal folds. It is an outpatient review completed in a short visit.

Balance tests and positional manoeuvres are used to establish whether dizziness originates in the inner ear.

Hearing thresholds are measured at different frequencies in a sound booth. It establishes the type and degree of hearing loss.

The movement of the eardrum and the pressure in the middle ear are measured. It is used in particular where fluid in the middle ear is suspected.
